A third escapee has turned himself in after a brazen jailbreak
last week in Trinidad and Tobago, authorities said.
Christopher
"Monster" Selby, 30, was the last of three men who escaped from a
jail in the capital city of Port of Spain.
He surrendered
Sunday after two of his fellow escapees were shot to death.
"He is now
in police custody," police officials said in a message to CNN affiliate
CNC3.
Shortly after
the escape from prison following a shootout, police killed one of the escapees
-- Allan "Scanny" Martin -- on the grounds of a local hospital.
Another escapee
-- Hassan Atwell -- was found dead Sunday, just before Selby turned himself in.
Atwell's body
had gunshot wounds, but it was not immediately clear who shot him. Police are
treating his death as a murder, the affiliate said.
The government
had placed airports and seaports on high alert after the violent escape that
left prison guard Sherman Maynard, 27, dead.
The escape
involved an exchange of gunfire between the prisoners and police, but it's
unclear how the inmates got weapons.
Atwell had been
awaiting extradition to the United States on charges linked to an alleged hostage
taking. Selby and Martin were facing murder charges.
